Controlinveste will advance the process of collective dismissal following the closure of newspapers ’24 Horas’ and ‘Global Notícias’ free, said the media group.
In a statement to the media, the administration of Controlinveste states that “the closure of two publications will mean, unfortunately, the elimination of jobs associated with their production, so that if initiate a process of collective dismissal involving the concerned professionals. ”
In the note, the administration of the group justifies the decision with “deep structural change in the market of the Press” that “requires strategic decisions that lead to new business models.”
According to the latest data from APCT, regarding the first two months of the year, “24″ recorded an average paid circulation of 16,442 copies, representing a decrease of 51.22% over the same period last year.
Global Notícias was a strong player regarding Classified Ads in the group.
In the note sent, the leaders of Controlinveste reported that in 2009 had taken measures to restructure and cut spending, “which had a positive impact on operational and financial indicators but has not been sufficient.”
In January 2009, the administration of Controlinveste initiated a process of collective redundancies which included 119 employees from different areas of the group.
